AURA Models | THE FACE BEHIND THE FRAME: GAIA Fernandez
5 Questions We Ask Every Model Who Joins the AURA Movement
At AURA, we believe every model is more than a look — they're a story, a spark, a voice.
These five questions help us reveal the person behind the portfolio.
01 | BEYOND THE FILTER
What’s one thing about the modeling world you wish more people understood — beyond the curated posts and polished reels?
We’re here for the real — not just the highlight reel.
One thing I wish people knew more about the modelling industry is that it is not at all as glamorous as people make it out to be, you have to be strong minded and confident within yourself so that this industry doesn’t get to you. Like every job, it has its pros and cons, it doesn’t just consist of sitting in front of a camera and looking pretty, so much happens in the background of it.
02 | WALK IT OFF
Have you ever tripped on the runway — and owned it like it was part of the show?
Confidence isn’t just a look. It’s a recovery.
Yes! I’ve had so many wardrobe malfunctions on the runway. My first ever show at SAFW i had a halter neck dress and the string was too long, the girl behind me stepped on it and i almost flashed the whole audience! Just last season I tripped, still haunts me.
03 | PLAN B
If modeling wasn’t in the picture, what career would you be chasing — and don’t say influencer!
Every model has a second passion. We want to know yours.
I would definitely go into either acting or something to do with phychology and criminology. I absolutely love being dramatic and i’ve always been so fascinated in finding out why people commit crimes.
04 | FASHION FLASHBACK
What’s the wildest outfit you’ve ever worn — the one that still lives rent-free in your memory?
Because even the most questionable looks can become iconic.
It wOof, i’ve had a few, but i think my top craziest one is when they put a cloth bag over my head and i had to walk the runway without seeing anything and struggling to breathe properly, mixed with a skirt that looked like hay and a top with massive inconsistent holes everywhere.
05 | EXPRESSION OR PERFORMANCE?
Do you see modeling as self-expression, performance — or something entirely different?
At AURA, we’re reshaping what it means to be a model. How do you define it?
I see modelling as a way to make money
